Udo Spreitzenbarth is an internationally known art and fashion photographer. He has photographed many covers and editorials for major magazines such as Elle, Vogue, Cosmopolitan and Marie Claire. His achievements in the art world include solo exhibitions in Berlin, New York, Shanghai, Beijing, Cologne, Frankfurt, and Stuttgart. Udo has photographed many of the iconic stars and personalities of our time, such as Meg Ryan, Salma Hayek, John Legend, The Jonas Brothers, Tyra Banks, The Beach Boys, and Usain Bolt, just to mention a few. He also photographed artist legends such as Christo, Richard Meyer and the late Helmut Newton.
In Udo’s photographs, his objective is to take the artist out of the context of just being the creator on the outside; the artist becomes part of the art work itself. His characteristic use of light and shadow dramatizes the scene and creates tension. This tension, along with the capture of a specific moment, allows the viewer to get a glimpse into the soul of the artist, rather than just seeing the surface.
